Residents should be advised of the following training operations that may impact air quality over Friday, October 9th & Saturday, October 10th.
The Fort Smith Fire Department is excited to be conducting live fire training at the new fire training grounds on King Street (Aurora College HEO sand lot) October 09, and October 10. This training will be done in the Town of Fort Smiths new Draeger fire trainer!
There may be smoke in the area. Drive with caution if visibility is temporarily impacted. This is NOT a fire emergency.
All live fire training is done with clean, dry, untreated lumber. The smoke produced is no different than what comes out of a household chimney.
All live fire training events are conducted under a strict burn plan in safe controlled conditions. This poses no fire risk to the community.
Training in real fire conditions ensures our responders can safely and confidently operate in fire conditions. This new training facility will ensure that our team is ready to respond to residents in need!
Thank you for your ongoing support of our department Fort Smith! A special thank you to Aurora College and the team from Draeger and Trident Fire Training for providing this great experience and equipment!
