On Monday, June 29th the Town of Fort Smith welcomed 59 residents of Pehdzeh Ki / Wrigley as a result of the evacuation order issued because of the fire burning North of Wrigley.

Supports & Resources for Pehdzeh Ki / Wrigley Evacuees
- Emergency Evacuation Relief Program: This program provides one-time financial support to help with costs associated with evacuations. Follow the link to complete the Emergency Evacuee Relief Program online application
- Sister Sutherland Thrift Store will be open starting at 3:00PM on Tuesday, June 30th for Evacuees to access clothing and other items they might need during their time in Fort Smith. The Thrift Store is accessible on the side entrance of the St Joseph Roman Catholic Church at 156 Breynat Street.
- The William Schaefer Memorial Pool will be open from 1:00PM to 7:00PM for a free swim for Evacuees. Children 8 years old and under will need to be supervised by someone 16 years of age or older. The pool is located at the Community & Recreation Centre at 108 King Street.
- Meals will be provided at the Fort Smith Centennial Arena at 13 Rupert Ave until further notice.
- Showers are available at no charge at the Community & Recreation Centre at 108 King Street. For more information on their operating hours, call +1 (867) 872-8228
Information on Highway 5 fires
Parks Canada published an update to inform residents evacuating from Wrigley who are travelling by road to Fort Smith that they may see smoke and firefighting activities, including helicopter activity along Highway 5.
Please be assured that there is currently no risk to the highway.
Smoke conditions can change quickly, and motorists are encouraged to drive with caution.
