PUBLIC NOTICE
Wildfire Update – No Threat to the Town of Fort Smith
As of now, there is no threat to the Town of Fort Smith from nearby wildfire activity. This update is being shared for situational awareness and community preparedness.
1. Alberta Wildfire MWF026 / ECC Wildfire SS009-25
This fire originates in Alberta. Both Alberta and NWT fire crews will be collaborating under a unified command and are currently gathering more resources to manage the fire and deploy structural protection as the fire is seeing an increase in activity.
Fort Smith Protective Services is working under the Structure Protection Branch of command, providing structure protection and Wildland Urban Interface support as required.
The Town of Fort Smith Municipal Services is preparing to support the needs of the Alberta fire camp that has been established on Tthebatthie Denesųłiné Nation (Smiths Landing First Nation) Territory near Border Town.

While there is no immediate risk, we encourage all residents to review their evacuation plans as a precaution. Know your exits, keep essential documents and supplies accessible, and stay informed through official Town and government updates.
