Wildfire Update – No Threat to the Town of Fort Smith

As of now, there is no threat to the Town of Fort Smith from nearby wildfire activity. This update is being shared for situational awareness and community preparedness.

Two fires are currently burning in areas near the Town:

1. Parks Fire (2025WB002)
Located south of town within Wood Buffalo National Park, this fire is burning in an unburnt island from the 2023 fire. Parks Canada is actively managing this fire with the necessary resources.

2. ECC Fire (SS007-25)
A new wildfire to the west of Fort Smith, located across the river. Current wind direction and non-continuous fuel types are pushing the fire away from town. ECC is responding with air tanker support.
