2025 Property Assessments have been circulated. To ensure there are no concerns with the value increases, we’ve gathered some points that may help add context to these notices.
- A big increase in your assessed value does NOT mean a big increase to your property taxes.
- Assessments are not tax bills – you don’t owe a thing in response!
- Assessment values and are updated to keep property values fair across communities – a good thing, especially if you want to sell a property.
- Tax rates are set separately each year through Council’s budget process.
- The assessment roll, in full, is available for review at the Town office during all office hours.
- Council is firmly committed to its vision toward acting in the best interests of Fort Smith and would not endorse introducing burdensome financial obligations to the residents here.
If you still have concerns about your assessment, additional information (such as how to appeal your assessment value) is available on the Town of Fort Smith website, or, of course, you are always welcomed to reach out by phone or email.
The Town of Fort Smith takes your concerns seriously and want to ensure you know you are being heard. We are here to answer any additional questions you may have, and look forward informing everyone to the fullest.
