The Town of Fort Smith is seeking an experienced and motivated professional for the position of Program Coordinator for a two -year term. Reporting to the Director of Protective Services, the Project Coordinator leads the Town’s Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) initiatives and Slope Monitoring Project, providing coordination, monitoring, and reporting for both. The position also supports administrative functions and develops a corporate records management program for the Protective Services Department, ensuring compliance, accurate documentation, and effective information management.
OUTLINE OF THE POSITION
The incumbent oversees coordination of all activities for the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) initiative, support and facilitate the HAF Committee, including organizing meetings and preparing progress updates. Liaise with consultants, Council, contractors, Indigenous governments, GNWT departments, and community stakeholders and conduct research on zoning, housing incentives, taxation tools, and best practices in housing policy. Manage procurement and contractor engagement for housing and slope monitoring projects. The position holder will support with the Implement the Town’s existing Records Management Bylaw within the Protective Services Department to ensure consistent digitization and reduced paper and storage needs.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED
The Project Coordinator is expected to have the following education, work experience and skills.
- Post-secondary education in project management, municipal administration, planning, records management, or a related field.
- Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, preferably in housing, infrastructure, or municipal policy.
- Knowledge of housing development, land use planning, and municipal incentive programs.
- Familiarity with records management and information systems.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with Indigenous governments, municipal councils, and community stakeholders is an asset.
- Knowledge of CMHC’s Housing Accelerator Fund program or similar funding initiatives is an asset.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including stakeholder engagement and report writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with information management software
SALARY & BENEFITS
- Pay Level/Range: Level 25 ($92,585.55 - $107,553.64)
- Northern Allowance of $7,947.26.
