The Town of Fort Smith is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Facility Maintainer I to support the Facilities team as an integral member of the municipal workforce for a three-month term.
OUTLINE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the Facility Supervisor, the incumbent will assist with the operation, maintenance and security of all Town of Fort Smith buildings, green spaces, parks, playgrounds, and outbuildings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Ensure the maintenance and security of facilities for regular operations and special events
- Follow up on work requests
- Follow established preventative maintenance repairs
- Maintain electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation systems
- Garbage collection duties on back of garbage truck
- Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of the facility are maintained and according to all health regulations
- Operate, maintain, and store cleaning equipment according to manufacturer’s directions
- Perform waste and snow removal on an as required basis
- Complete all administration requirements in a timely manner and submit daily shift report in the logbook.
- Assist with the maintenance of files, records and statistics of the community’s use of all facilities
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Maintain and hold a Valid Class 5 NWT Driver’s License
- Grade 10 or equivalent education
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment safety, maintenance, and storage
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and record keeping
- Experience in facility maintenance or arena work is an asset
- First Aid and CPR training
- Successful completion of a Recreation Facility Operator certification is an asset
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Pay Level/Range: Level 12 ($64,985.95- $73,978.45)
- Northern Allowance paid in addition to base salary
