Thick, frozen lakes and rivers make excellent snowmobile trails in the winter months. Few fences and snow-buried underbrush makes it easy to enjoy the terrain for fun or as a form of transportation. Many locals use snowmobile trails around town for day-to-day travels. One route runs parallel to Highway 5 between Fort Smith and Salt River.
Explore the trails around town on a pair of snowshoes, channeling bygone years of hunters, trappers and fur traders. Snowshoes allow you to walk across deep snow and into the back country. You’ll find information on trails and their difficulty level here.
