Grammy Award winner Joanne Shenandoah is a musician, educator and ambassador of peace touring NWT in November. Her music has been described as a “Native American trance,” singing in both English and Oneida.

Neil Young called her, “one of the finest attributes to Native American music and culture.”

Joanne has performed for noted leaders such as, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, and Mikhail Gorbachev. She has performed in prestigious events such as The White House, St. Peter’s Basilica, and 5 presidential inaugurations.

Her contributions extend far beyond music. She is a direct descendent of the famed “Chief Shenandoah” who is noted to have been given a “Peace Medal” by George Washington and established Hamilton College, Clinton, NY (The Oneida Academy).
