Wrigley Evacuation Update - July 2, 2026

UPDATE: Wrigley Evacuation to Fort Smith

While the fire North of Wrigley (FS015) may currently seem dormant, there is no set re-entry date for the community. The situation is dynamic, and an increase of temperature and wind has the possibility to dry out the terrain, and make the fire highly active.

Additionally, the fire outside of Fort Simpson (FS016), is still highly active, and plays a part in the residents of Wrigley being able to return home
✅ The Fort Smith Centennial Arena at 13 Rupert Ave continues to be the Evacuation Centre
✅ The Town of Fort Smith and partners are now supporting 68 registered evacuees
✅ Food for evacuees has transitioned to daily meal forms available for pick-up at the Pelican Rapids Inn. All restaurants and food service providers in Fort Smith are involved in this process
✅ Uncle Gabe's Friendship Centre has opened their youth centre 3PM - 8PM Tuesday to Saturday along with a variety of supports
✅ Union of Northern Workers has sponsored free swims at the William Schaefer Memorial Pool. Call +1 (867) 872-8228 for the latest information on swims.
✅ The Town of Fort Smith is hiring Special Project Casuals to assist with evacuation support. Please apply through www.fortsmith.ca/work

Supporting evacuees may bring back memories or emotions for some community members. Please be kind to your neighbours and yourself during this time.
