We are profoundly saddened by the loss of innocent lives — including young students, an educator, and members of the suspect’s own family. Our thoughts are with the families, friends, classmates, school staff, first responders, and the entire Tumbler Ridge community as they navigate this unimaginable grief.
As a northern community, we understand how closely connected communities can be during times of tragedy. Incidents such as this resonate far beyond municipal boundaries. They remind us of the importance of supporting one another, prioritizing mental health resources, and ensuring that our schools and public spaces remain places of safety and care.
We extend our appreciation to the RCMP and emergency responders who acted swiftly in response to this crisis. We also acknowledge the difficult work ahead for investigators and community leaders in supporting healing and understanding.
