Thebacha & Wood Buffalo Dark Sky Festival

August 18-20, 2017

The annual Dark Sky Festival is a celebration of the return of dark skies to our northern latitude (60°N) and is hosted during the third weekend of August. Festival activities take place in Fort Smith, NWT and the in world's largest Dark Sky Preserve, Wood Buffalo National Park.

Visiting Author - David Olesen - Dog Sled Racing, Bush Pilot and more Northern adventure stories!

 

Dave Olesen was raised in a small-town in the U.S and earned a B.A. in Humanities and Northern Studies. He is a long-time dog musher, and has finished the formidable Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race eight times. Olesen moved to Canada in 1987. He lives on Great Slave Lake with his wife, Kristen, their two daughters, and forty-three huskies. He works as a bush pilot and guide, and of course, author!
