Garbage services

Municipal garbage pick-up is scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays.

Landfill hours of operation:

SUMMER (May 1 to September 30)

  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

WINTER (October 1 to April 30)

  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In summer and winter, the landfill is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and all statutory holidays.

Recycling services in the community are provided by RTL Recycling, located on Highway 5 next to the Fort Smith Animal Shelter. Currently, only beverage containers are recyclable in Fort Smith. The hours of operation are:

  • Wednesday 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
