Bodies In Motion on hiatus until September

Bodies in Motion is on hold for the remainder of the summer and will resume September 2010. Check back here for more info in September.

Bodies In Motion is a new, one hour long fitness program at the Recreation Centre for adult seeking a lower impact, introductory level fitness class. Bodies In Motion focuses on range of motion exercises, cardio exercise, strength training, balance and stretching for a complete workout in just one hour. Join Pool Manager Tim Van Dam for great fun and great exercise!

 

Bronze Medallion- Monday-Friday August 9-20, 2010

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the

water rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skill, and

fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defence and

types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance 

in a timed swim. Completing Bronze Medallion also 

certifies the swimmer with a CPR-A certificate.

Cost for Bronze Medallion is $160. Register at the Fort Smith Pool.

 

 

Bronze Cross - Monday-Friday August 9-20, 2010

Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including and introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Completing Bronze Cross also certifies the swimmer with a CPR-C certificate. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification.  

Cost for the course is $180 and includes the Canadian Lifesaving Manual textbook. Instructor will be Tim Van Dam. Register at the pool before August 2, 2010.

 

NLS/Standard First Aid June 26 - 30, 2010

National Lifeguard (NLS) certification is recognized as the standard for lifeguards in Canada. NLS training develops the basic lifeguarding skills, principles and decision making process to help lifeguards create a safe and enjoyable facility. This course teaches lifeguards to prevent emergencies and if necessary respond effectively. Prerequisite(s):  16 years of age, Bronze Cross. Course includes Standard First Aid.

NLS is running at the Fort Smith Pool from June 26-30 from 8:30AM to 6PM Cost is $300.

 

NLS Recertification - June 30, 2010

National Lifeguard (NLS) certification is current for a period of two years from the date of the exam. This recertification exam retests all skill items as well as provides any updated information. Successful completion of this exam will extend the certification for another two years. Cost is $85.
